Tesla had the “first to market” advantage. This company may have brought about the EV “revolution”, but they are quickly losing to the avant garde and even startups.
Doesn’t help the CEO is quite the eccentric character. Almost the archetype of a comic book villain. The decision to incorporate ads into products is sus to say the least.
I almost fell into the Tesla trap in the late 2010s and early 2020s, but ultimately decided against it. Mostly poor build quality and poor QA. Glad I did because the competition is looking very nice.
Polestar lineup looks interesting, but maybe give them another 5-6 years.
Ionic looks interesting, unfortunately it’s made by one of my bottom tier ranked manufacturers.
Honestly, I may just stick it out with my ICE vehicle, continue basic maintenance until it, metaphorically speaking, shits the bed. In the meanwhile, have been using public transportation more often. I think not using my car (whether it was an EV or not) is much better environmentally.
Despite the generally poor attitude towards public transportation in America, I found it quite relaxing (even during “peak”) compared to the grind of dealing with rush hour traffic.
