My first job was working on an open source bug tracking tool that had been overextended to hell to perform business tasks: kick off automated processes, read and write from the corporate data store, etc. I spent years fiddling with that thing. When the layoffs came and I left, they just threw the whole thing in the trash. Completely useless work.
