`Despite the widespread harm caused by cars and automobility, governments, corporations, and individuals continue to facilitate it by expanding roads, manufacturing larger vehicles, and subsidising parking, electric cars, and resource extraction. This literature review synthesises the negative consequences of automobility, or car harm, which we have grouped into four categories: violence, ill health, social injustice, and environmental damage.`
I don't think the public should continue to fund such one-sided research through government grants. Yes, cars cause harms, but they also bring enormous benefits in freedom and mobility.

They make streets so dangerous we can't let our kids roam free. They make getting anywhere without one a huge hassle. When you do get somewhere with a car you need a place to store it and secure it. Also, heaven help you if you have a disability that prevents you from driving or you can't afford one. It's a bit like everyone owns an elephant and people are saying "Riding Elephants are so freeing! You don't have to worry about being stepped on by an Elephant!"
