Paul Graham on X: "I always prefer ordinary voice calls to Zoom calls
- hunglee2 3y agoI think this depends a great deal on whether it is first contact or whether it is with a known caller. For first contact, I prefer to have as much information as possible, and that includes facial expression etc. For known callers with whom a trust relationship has already been built, either voice or video is ok, voice often better given the lower cognitive effort required
- perrygeo 3y agoSome of the recent research in the psychology of zoom fatigue supports the superiority of voice calls. The upshot: "limited access to video may promote better communication and social interaction during collaborative problem solving" - https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0247655 https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal...
