What was the post about giving malicious users worse UX?
I can't find the post, but I remember it being posted here some time ago (months, maybe a year?).
Somebody found out that it's more effective to give malicious users worse user experience (slow loads, random error messages) instead of banning them completely.
- unnamed76ri 3y agoMaybe you can’t find it because HN has given YOU a worse UX?? Kidding of course. I feel like I remember seeing something like that also.
- kypro 3y agoIt's effective giving users a worse user experience in general when you're trying to limit some action. Have you ever tried to unsubscribing from Prime? If you want a crash course in how to stop a user doing something you don't want them to do then I'd start there.
- fabianholzer 3y agoMight be "The Frustration Loop" by Herman, the creator of bearblog? https://herman.bearblog.dev/the-frustration-loop/ https://herman.bearblog.dev/the-frustration-loop/
- panstromek 3y agoYes, this is it. Thanks a lot!
- datascienced 3y agoSounds like a cousin of shadow banning.
