Always Bet on Text
- yawpitch 3y ago> It is not a coincidence that all of literature and poetry, history and philosophy, mathematics, logic, programming and engineering rely on textual encodings for their ideas. That is a nonsensical statement, and circular in the extreme… a textual encoding is certainly an extremely useful way to transmit ideas, and in all of these domains textual artifacts have proven both useful and durable, but in every one of those cases the idea originates in a mind. Within the mind no encoding is required, and there are plenty of ideas that can’t even be textually encoded… hence why there are plenty of philosophers / poets / engineers and so on who dance, sing, fuck about with theremins.
