“The number of men diagnosed with prostate cancer worldwide is projected to double to 2.9 million a year by 2040, with annual deaths predicted to rise by 85%, (…) and the most common form of male cancer in more than 100 countries. “
Iirc, some ethnicities have a higher risk rate and the risk increases with testosterone supplementation. One of the lines of defense is attempting to block T after mid stage diagnosis.
- ryanwaggoner 3y agoMy understanding is that the alleged link between testosterone replacement therapy and prostate cancer has very weak evidence: https://www.health.harvard.edu/mens-health/appropriate-use-of-testosterone-therapy-does-not-appear-to-raise-prostate-cancer-risk#:~:text=27%2C%202023%2C%20by%20JAMA%20Network,to%20men%20not%20using%20TRT https://www.health.harvard.edu/mens-health/appropriate-use-o....
- instagib 3y agoThanks for the link and the 3yr study highlighting is a nice touch. Can’t edit my post though. I wonder if the blocking T is contraindicated also then. Sample size 1, a relative, it didn’t work at all to reduce testosterone. “The study was limited to men with hypogonadism who had a low risk of prostate cancer, so it's not clear how TRT may affect higher-risk men or those who use testosterone in higher amounts, for longer periods of time, or for treating other conditions.”
