I find rsync really simple. Mount it locally then use Git on the mounted filesystem. When lacking connectivity, I have a 200GB Synology NAS in my Tesla powered by the battery, something really not possible a few years ago and with significantly higher capacity than traditional clouds.

Could you go into detail on what you use that NAS for? Movies for that big screen or an offsite backup? I'm curious
