It happens in NYC and I know people who come internationally for HOPE. And even if they didn't, are US based attendees also not on planet earth?
The things people try and fet angry about...
- throwaway458864 3y agoObviously it happens on planet earth and the visitors are hackers who live on planet earth. I don't think they care particularly if it's ironic, I think they just don't like the name and are looking for something to complain about. So let them complain.
- mdrzn 3y agoI wasn't complaining, I just posted something I noticed considering I just learned about this organization. I went to check the tickets, then the history of the event, and noticed that it has always been held in the US. Since HN in general likes to complain about names (OpenAI? more like ClosedAI AMIRITE??) I thought this was on topic.
- LeonB 3y agoI’m not complaining. I’m trying to help you see why people can detect irony in the situation. I certainly was not angry about it. Please don’t respond to me further. (“Tekla” did indeed go ahead and triple down. That’s troll behaviour.)
