Kyber: A new approach for real-time video and controls streaming based on QUIC
- lairv 3y agoThis is a new project from Jean-Baptiste Kempf, main contributor of VLC It sounds pretty insane, basically real time latency streaming for audio, video and inputs, where both the client and the server can run anywhere, on desktop, on mobile, on the web, so you could potentially play Cyberpunk 2077 by simply opening a new tab on any machine It will be open-sourced although the project appears not to be yet available https://kyber.media/ https://kyber.media/
- jauntywundrkind 3y agoLooks awesome. From a really smart dude, making use of really good projects (ffmpeg, vlc). Ripping out as much buffering as possible, getting rid of sync, in the name of speed sounds wild. https://youtu.be/0RvosCplkCc?si=Cemjym4_paHS38QG#t=6m9s https://youtu.be/0RvosCplkCc?si=Cemjym4_paHS38QG#t=6m9s The rest of the system is just as wild if not wilder. Input forwarding is complex! It also supports usb-ip!!! Wildlu fun options; seeing a better consumerized usb-pd would be so fun. It was briefly mentioned that it's not using Media-over-QUIC (MoQ), which was an immediate question I had. I wonder what drove them away from MoQ. https://quic.video/ https://quic.video/ https://datatracker.ietf.org/group/moq/about/ https://datatracker.ietf.org/group/moq/about/
