That tech will be a long time coming for any current EV system. The Tesla batteries weigh something like 1400 lbs, building the machinery to manhandle those loads reliably is a major undertaking. Of course, there is a chance that between smaller, lighter batteries (with less range) and 5 minute battery swaps we could cross that bridge. Increasing the safety margin by waiting for sodium batteries to mature would also be smart. Maybe 20 years from now we'll have a decent system in place.
