war is a cluster fuck. Mistakes will be made, and you will never know if it was intentional or not, this is why there is the word "collaterals". During WWII, many germans were not nazis. But they got allies bombs on their heads too, because nazis were in charge and way too dangerous for the allies. war is an abomination. expecting "rules" or perfect targetting is just a fantasy, extremely dangerous fantasy.

These strikes bear all the hallmarks of intentional targeting. The IDF isn’t even claiming (for now) that the strikes weren’t intentional, shifting the blame on an unnamed commander[1]. No, I think it is far more likely that Israel is using starvation as a weapon. There is a looming famine in Norther Gaza, Israel is under orders from the ICJ to allow aid to flow to Gaza, but hasn’t complied. These aid workers were getting aid into Gaza, this is against Israel’s strategy of starving Palestinians, so they targeted the aid workers.   You will never know if it was intentional or not, unless the IDF wants to admit it. And as I said, expecting "rules" or "0-collaterals" in a war is an extremely dangerous fantasy.

      I don't know the capabilities of such weapon systems, all I see is what we have on TV: a threat was identified as a moving vehicule, usually a bright shape on a black and white IR/thermal monitor. And even if that weapon system was able to perform a high quality visible light magnification... how do know this is not a trick from the opponents?

        Apparently all the weapons both during day and night have the capability to kill journalists and aid workers. https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/reuters-videographer-killed-southern-lebanon-2023-10-13/ https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/reuters-videograph... At some point you will need to really have a look at the idea that, it is by design. And working exactly as intended.

        You don't know they "told" the IDF enough to be trusted as not being a threat, and you will never know unless the IDF does acknowledge something out of this. And something does not add up: the IDF has no reason to trust those orgs in the first place... that should be actually the other way around as those orgs could be leverage in some way by the opponents as they are moving on war grounds.

    Oh yes. It is not a fantasy. The rules of engagement with prisoners of war, unarmed civilians, dead people, aid workers, journalists, medics are codified and is expected in wars. But this particular state, is given a free hand to do anything it wishes. It is not bound by a constitution, rather the whims of a conveniently placed group of people. And please, this is no collateral, it is happened to a group of people who informed and coordinated with the occupying force.
