- SkyPuncher 3y agoWhile the proof is cool, was there any ever doubt that this was in Kaliningrad?

- daghamm 3y agoJamming is also a type of signal. How hard is it to find exactly where it is located? Is it possible to create a seeking missile that instead of, say, heat follows signal strength? Even when it's mostly noise?

- neon5077 3y agoThe signal may not have a single source. An attacker could also use multiple antenna to make the signal source appear as originating from some space between them. Could have multiple antenna broadcasting in time slices to maintain a constant signal from a varying source location. Radio is a lot weirder than you think.

- exabrial 3y agoIt amazes me that Russia acts in a way that will continue to see alliances form against it.

- euroderf 3y agoSelf-fulfilling prophecies of encirclement
- bdjsiqoocwk 3y agoYou're not joking. I'm reading thru "Stalin" by Stephen Kotkin, and Stalin was using the term "capitalist encirclement" at least as far back as the 1920s. I get the impression that Russian state police in its different incarnations (cheka/OGPU/KGB/GRU) never really went away, they just launder the exterior (Russian Empire/USSR/Russian Federation) and keep going.
- euroderf 3y agoHah, can it all be traced back to Kievan Rus ? Or even the Mongols ?

- HillRat 3y agoThat was basically the thesis of Kennan's "Long Telegram" (https://nsarchive2.gwu.edu/coldwar/documents/episode-1/kennan.htm https://nsarchive2.gwu.edu/coldwar/documents/episode-1/kenna...).
- bdjsiqoocwk 3y agoThanks for the link. Some times you hear ideas, forget you heard them, they come back in your mind and you think they're your own. I don't know if that's the case here, but I know I'd never directly read this text, thank you.
