Show HN. Proberix: Next-Gen Monitoring for Websites and APIs
- rbeggy 2y agoProberix monitors websites and APIs, sends alerts for issues, and supports easy setup. It works worldwide and lets you manage everything in one place
- ninja-ninja 2y agohow does it work?
- rbeggy 2y agoIt works by sending regular HTTP/S requests to your sites or services from various global locations. If it detects any issues, such as slow response times or failures, it alerts you according to predefined rules.
- piterrro 2y agoWhy should I choose your service instead of one of many other established players on the market like UptimeRobot, Cronitor, Uptime.com, Checkly to name a few ?
- nkozmoyan 2y agoThat’s a very valid question. Having been part of the product team at an established monitoring company, I witnessed firsthand how services can spiral into complexity following investments or acquisitions, with a new focus on appealing to investors or shareholders rather than meeting user needs. This shift often leads to bloated features, unnecessary upsells, and an overarching emphasis on business metrics at the expense of user experience. With Proberix, my goal is to cut through that noise, offering human-centric approach that prioritizes simplicity.
- piterrro 2y agoLooking at UptimeRobot, an established player, is simple, and cheaper than Proberix. Why would I go with Proberix?
- nkozmoyan 2y agoPlans on Proberix include features like full-page rendering and change detection alongside HTTP checks. Full-page rendering, which basically mimics an actual browser to also help test websites that are client-side rendered, is computationally expensive, unlike simple HTTP checks that are good for server-side rendered pages. The Change Detection feature, which diffs large HTTP responses between two checks, uses a lot of computing power.
- piterrro 2y agoI don't want to sound harsh nor demotivate you, but you've picked a very hard market IMO. If you have experience on working on such tool in a different company then leverage that knowledge to build a robust GTM strategy. Innovating technology in this space is hard, I think everything was already invented. The features you mention are already offered by a number of competitors and similar tools, there is no innovation here. Unless you have some very unique value proposition for the users, it will be hard to win a piece of the market.
- mdrzn 2y agoAre you the owner of the website, or is is rbeggy? Also this reads like a chatGPT response tbh.
- nkozmoyan 2y agoYou are definitely talking to a person and I have worked as a UX specialist at a monitoring company (about 100 people) my whole career. The majority of the time, I was battling why we should invest long term to create lovable products rather than do "growth hacking" and draw immediate metrics for investors. This was the reason I decided to start a new company, knowing well how saturated the market is in this area. Trust me, I have repeatedly found myself asking the above question. It may sound poetic or like ChatGPT because I didn't want to bring a comparison of features. Rather, I wanted to give a high-level motivation.
