I still remember sites like SuprNova.org and later mininova sites that were some of the first public Bittorrent sites I discovered.
Although before that I was a heavy Emule and Kazaa user, and I also remember WinMX fondly (the only place where I could find PDFs of Game Developers Magazine, in the early 2000s). While most of my friends where pirating MP3s, I was hungry for PDFs, books and the like.

- ilrwbwrkhv 3y agoOh glorious days then, glorious days now. Long live piracy! I so love the whole community.
- xtracto 3y agoI think the current state of file sharing is not as good as before. Even on the gray areas of the internet such as sharing of copyrighted work, the "profiteering" of the "contemporary internet" has taken over the "sharing is caring" mentality if yesteryear. Now you have private torrent sites requiring stupid questionnaires and invites, iptv subscription based sites, and ad ridden sites... inmkss the simplicity of emule, soulseek, Napster and their ilk.
- crtasm 3y agoLast I looked Soulseek was still going strong. Try the Nicotine+ client.
