There already are vaccines you ingest orally, but they aren't well known in the West. They are much cheaper to product, but also not as effective (so much more common in developing countries).

- lupusreal 3y agoThe oral polio vaccine is not only less effective but also more dangerous. It, unlike the injected polio vaccine, can actually give you polio.
- leereeves 3y agoThat's something different. Those are live or killed pathogens that can be ingested orally. These are transgenic crops (like lettuce) that have been modified to express some proteins shared with the pathogens.
