Execute your best ideas with Google Registry's .exe top-level domain
- nullindividual 3y agoThis is fundamentally _awful_ (fortunately still throwing NX for me). This is going to be confusing for end users, frustrating for IT admins, and will make phishing training that much more difficult. Is the "ILOVEYOU.exe" a reference to the virus[0]? [0] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ILOVEYOU https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ILOVEYOU I'll wait for fuckyougooglefortheexetld.exe.
- rudasn 3y agoYeah I think this an April's fools joke..
- millzlane 3y agoI think you may be right. Half the links on the page don't work.
- samantha-wiki 3y agoYeah all the links they reference in the beginning are negative towards Google too
- sunaookami 3y agoTake a closer look at the domain ;)
- WorldMaker 3y agoThe rest are to reports of problems with Google's phishing helping mistakes with .zip and .mov, such as https://www.wired.com/story/google-zip-mov-domains-phishing-risks/ https://www.wired.com/story/google-zip-mov-domains-phishing-... explaining the joke, such as it is.
- samantha-wiki 3y agoI’m heartbroken, I would love a .exe domain But I did fall for it..
- k8svet 3y agoAnd here I was thinking "surely everyone's going to see the googel in the URL right". And then I remember that phishing is ... constantly successful. Sigh.
- WirelessGigabit 3y agoSadly, the .zip tld wasn't a joke. Edit: holy **** I just realize this is googel, not google. And yes, I had to fight autocorrect to correctly misspel googel.
- feyman_r 3y agoIs this an official domain? ‘googelblog’?
