Can this man get Gen Z (and the rest of us) off their phones?

- xyst 3y ago“Phones” are not the problem. Phones and social media offer an escape from the real world. The real world is plagued with bullshit that adults and previous generations dumped on them: - irreversible climate change - continued dependence on oil and gas - worsening air quality - worsening water quality - food supply tainted with microplastics generated from degradation of plastic, tire wear particles - increasing homelessness - increasing cost of living - affordability of a home becoming increasingly out of reach for the common person - increasing isolation due to suburbs - countries waging wars on other countries, sending in the youngest of the population to wage old school colonialism - the US government doing almost nothing to help the Palestinians bombed by the Israeli government. Even going a step further and providing Israeli government with the tools of destruction. The enablement is disgusting to say the least - increasing wage disparity amongst men vs women - increasing wage disparity between poor vs rich - rise of neo-Nazism in the past 10 years - rise of increasingly worse weather events (ie, floods, droughts). Supposedly “100 year events” now occurring more frequently - decrease in biodiversity across the globe because people want a stupid single family home in some shit suburb - increasingly loneliness because parents often buy homes in suburbs that have no access to amenities. Requires a stupid car to get around It’s like people forget what it was like growing up in the 00s or 10s; and think if they raise children in the same environment. They will magically do much better. Smh, people are fucking delusional. People like the supposed “social psychologist” featured in this article are out of touch with reality; or just another grifter peddling his narrative to sell his book. There is no “silver bullet” but rather a confluence of ongoing events influencing the outcomes of future and current generations. Why nobody realizes this is beyond me.
