The exec came into the meeting with the decision pre-made, then asked for our opinion. When I voiced my opinion on the sub-optimality of his choice, he agreed with me citing his bad experience with the vendor, he said "we hear you", and didn't alter at all the decision. So yeah, lucky you that your execs listen. My exec just "hears".
