Show HN: Turtle graphics with only 6 commands: C, F, R, S, [, ]
- chrisjj 3y agoBrilliant! But user hostile on phone with Android Chrome. By default the canvas is heavily cropped, hiding the centre. Zooming out to avoid crop leaves the text too small to read. Also please consider adding description to button label. E.g. F -> F (forward). Thanks.
- chrisjj 3y agoPS > Repeat current repeatable block once more and exit the block. All blocks are repeatable, right? It is once not once more. And it doesn't exit the block. Execution isn't in the block. So better is: Repeat the current block once.
- susam 3y agoThank you for playing with this tool and for sharing your feedback. Does "once" make the description of the block meaningfully different from "once more"? If so, I would like to understand this better. A repeatable block is executed once by default and once more when ‘]’ is encountered. For example, consider the following CFRS[] code: [FFFF Here the block is entered and four cells are drawn. The block is not repeated. But now consider this: [FFFF] Here the block is entered, four cells are drawn, and the block is repeated, so four cells are drawn again. A total of 8 cells are drawn. There are others too who have found the description of the ‘]’ command to be a little confusing, so I wonder how I could refine its description to improve clarity without sacrificing accuracy.
- chrisjj 3y ago> Does "once" make the description of the block meaningfully different from "once more"? Yes. Once here means qty 1. Once more means qty +1. > A repeatable block is executed once by default and once more when ‘]’ is encountered. Sure but the verb was repeat not execute. > so I wonder how I could refine its description to improve clarity without sacrificing accuracy. As I said: Repeat the current block once. Or: Re-execute the current block. Thanks for considering improvement!
- susam 3y agoThanks again for the response and the suggestions. I have updated the documentation now to incorporate the suggestions: <https://github.com/susam/cfrs/commit/f6b591b https://github.com/susam/cfrs/commit/f6b591b>.
