I use the pay with palm thing at Whole Foods (owned by Amazon) every day. That also puts in your Prime membership which discounts some things. But that's completely the opposite of privacy. I use the self check-outs which are really fast and efficient there. They don't don't take cash at those though; they have them taped over! When I was on a cash/privacy kick a while back, I noticed paying the self-checkouts with cash (like at Target) was even faster than using a card.
