AI Replaces 'Mamma Mia ' Musical Star Sara Poyzer for BBC Production: "Sobering"
- jfengel 3y agoThe headline is misleading, and the article isn't much better. It doesn't say what the project was, or what Poyzer's role in it was supposed to be. It's not a production of "Mamma Mia"; it's just identifying her as somebody who is known for being in that show. I know a lot of actors, writers, and other artists who are afraid of being replaced by AI, and with good reason. The new SAG/WGA contracts will at best delay it. But I don't think it's anywhere near ready to replace featured roles, even for voice acting. It's hard to imagine that she just lost a starring role to AI. If that's what happened, it is indeed an extremely big deal. I know that's coming, but I don't think it's today, and the vagueness in the article implies that it's something else.
