Canva is into AI.
They will most certainly add AI features in affinity.
You cannot run proprietary AI models (ie. the secret sauce) locally or people will steal them.
So… the models will run in the cloud.
Running cloud services costs money.
You cannot have a perpetual model (ie. pay once, use forever) for an AI enabled cloud product. Especially very expensive cloud GPUs. It’s just basic economic fact.
So, we can expect a future where there are different tiers of affinity products for subscription and non subscription users, maybe with a credits model, like photoshop.
Canva knows this.
Everyone knows this.
So… you know. It’s bit of a laugh really.
Translation: hey guys, please don’t freak out and boycott / abandon the thing will just decided to buy like you did with figma.
- phinnaeus 3y agoEven if the 3-4 step leap you've made here pans out, they basically said they'll keep the perpetual version alongside the cloud/subscription(/AI?) version. I think at this point you're just looking for things to be mad about.
- Brajeshwar 3y agoIsn't this akin to the Sketch Pricing Model - https://www.sketch.com/pricing/ https://www.sketch.com/pricing/
- wokwokwok 3y agoTime will tell. What I’m saying is that it is not possible they will both integrate AI and have a simple perpetual license as they claim. So… you can decide if you think Canva will bring AI to affinity, and base your judgment on that. > I think at this point you're just looking for things to be mad about. Looking at your comment history I’m not sure you are an unbiased commentator. /shrug
