Does AI help or hurt human radiologists' performance? It depends on the doctor
- ggm 3y agoThe ground truth of "what is there" is distinct from the processes which AI and people bring to the table determining risk/consequence. I'm guessing some people see validation in the AI confirming their intuition and others see negatives in being confronted by disputed determination, and de-valued. My Urologist tells me that despite being well over a threshold for MRI for a condition, ancilliary information not in the ultrasounds tell him its "watch and wait" and so I am content, because he and I align on over-diagnostic. Others might differ. And so from a client perspective I can believe people see different things in the same diagnostic signal. Ranking yourself to an AI is complicated.
