English is not the only language using latin script, so the point about 75 in 100 developers not being native english speakers is inconsequential. There is a lot of knowledge required to make a font that covers all sorts of scripts, especially with constraints like it being monospaced. It's not impossible, but it'd be a massive and expensive undertaking with arguably little benefit.
