That's what I made hedonjs for, a kind of repl for doing more than the node repl, it allows you to slowly build out your program without restarting it, adding and editing functions (and callbacks, with a slight bit of trickery) and variable values while the program runs. Of course, this is nothing new, it's an amazing strength of lisp in such environments as slime for emacs or alive for vscode.
