- gpvos 3y agoThe URLs are byte-for-byte the same, I thought HN would catch that and treat the new submission as an upvote to the older one, at least with such a short interval between them.
- dang 3y agoThey were more like 2 days apart but the older one (39813267) got picked for the second-chance pool (https://news.ycombinator.com/pool https://news.ycombinator.com/pool, explained at https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=26998308 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=26998308), so it got a random placement on HN's front page. I need to fix the software so it doesn't do that with dupes, but it's a rare enough case so it keeps getting postponed. Sorry!
