Show HN: Vsdeco – Transform Your Room with a Click
Hey Hacker News community,
I'm excited to share a project I've been working on, VSDECO, a web tool that transforms photos of rooms into various interior design styles, including Modern, Scandinavian, Minimalist, and more. It also allow to home stage virtually. Born from personal experience and a passion for photography and technology, it is designed to help users visualize potential changes to their spaces effortlessly.
How did I come up with the idea? While house hunting, I struggled to visualize the potential of empty or outdated rooms. Discussing with friends and family, I realized this visualization challenge was common. Combining my interests in photography and tech, I aimed to create a solution that makes interior transformation accessible to everyone, regardless of their design experience.
Potential users are realtors to showcase how properties can be furnished or renovated to sell faster. Also, homeowners can gain decoration ideas and visualize them before making any purchases. Besides, designers and interior architects can provide a preliminary visualization tool for space distribution and decoration.
How It Works? Just upload a photo of your room, choose a style and receive a photo transformation showcasing what your space could look like.
Thoughts on the concept? Suggestions for improvement?
If you find the idea helpful, please share it with those who might benefit.
Your insights are invaluable to me. Check it out and let me know what you think.
Thank you for your support and feedback!
- troydavis 3y agoI was intrigued enough to try it, and got as far as clicking "Get Started." Let me try it without creating an account. If the service is computationally intensive, then at least choose a handful of real photos of rooms and let me manipulate those as a way to try it. If it's not computationally intensive, then the smoothest conversion funnel is probably: 1. I click on one of your stock images, provide a short instruction ("Add blue floor-to-ceiling drapes"), and it works, so… 2. I upload my own image and try a few changes, so… 3. I want to save/persist the images it generated. That's the natural time to let me (and require me to) create an account.
- asiergapa 3y agoThank you for the insightful feedback, troydavis. VSDECO is indeed computationally intensive, as it requires significant processing power to manipulate images with the level of detail and quality that users expect. I agree with you; it's a great idea to provide users with a selection of real room photos to experiment with different styling options, without the need to create an account immediately. This approach allows potential users to experience the capabilities of the service firsthand and see the value it can offer. I am going to build this feature to help you and others in the same situation as you. I really appreciate your suggestion. Hope that it will helps users decide better and improve the overall satisfaction.
