iTunes has user ratings and reviews, although they seem to be read-only on the Apple TV (I believe you need iTunes to write your own). You can't sort by user rating, which is also a problem in the app stores. Netflix on the Apple TV has genre listings — I believe Apple designed the interface, so it may be a little different from other versions.
