This doesn't even mention the Private Equity takeover of the music production side of the industry which is equally sad. Everything is about subscriptions and recurring revenue now. For things like Splice or Arcade, sure, I get it - constant content updates requires consistent revenue. No problems there. But it seems more and more companies are turning to a subscription/platform model versus just selling me a DAW or VST and that being the end of it. No wonder standalone analog hardware is making a comeback - no hassle or dongle or bullshit required.
