Ask HN: Laptop price drops later in the year?
I'm strongly considering buying this,
Acer Swift Edge 16" 4K OLED Laptop - AMD Ryzen 7-7735U, for about 600$. My main use cases are photo, video, and music production. Linux compatibility is a must as well, I vastly prefer Linux Mint or other Debian based distros. Gaming would be nice as well, but I'm not expecting AAA.
So my question is, should I hop on this deal or wait a few months. I plan on installing a 2TB drive ( this puts Macs firmly out of my budget).

- accrual 3y agoAlthough it's a higher SKU, I have a laptop with the AMD 7840U CPU and it's quite fast, even for some light/medium gaming. The 7735U doesn't look too far behind it, for the purposes you listed I think it would feel quite snappy. The only thing to keep in mind is a 4K OLED screen will be taxing on the battery, so you may not get more than a few hours. But if you're plugged in/docked most of the time it is likely not an issue!
