Weird but genuine question: would it surprise you if it was true that most people would agree with that statement? (that there are no viable alternatives to Excel) It seems obvious to me that it is true, from my particular slice of the world, so I find it surprising that anyone would find it unsurprising. (The reason is that I am aware that whole businesses/parts of businesses are built on Excel in a way that is not replaceable by programming languages, and which everyone would refuse to replace with anything besides Excel because it's best-in-class and integrated into everything already.)
