Part of me wonders if this is a high-risk high-reward play to avoid paying his ex-wife a divorce settlement. If he loses all his money, oh well, sorry ex-wife I've got nothing. If he wins big, he makes a ton of money, but paying out the settlement will proportionally feel like nothing.
