I use cloud-hosted redis. Presumably the price will be going up. i work for non-profit endeavors with limited budgets. I don't necessarily need redis specifically; infrastructure ecosystems just developed around it because it was both very high-quality and open source. I could probably do most or all of what I do with redis with an rdbms. Or in some cases memcached. I anticipate switching away from redis.
