Tell HN: A job is more important than you might think
I spent a few months studying on my own after quitting my last job. The result was that I was cut off from social interaction and not in a good place mentally. I should have continued to study while working full time, it is very good for mental health.
- favourable 3y agoThe shared secret is that fraternizing with colleagues after work is forbidden but people do it anyway.
- 082349872349872 3y agoHaving non-cow-orker friends is generally a good idea anyway.
- kstenerud 3y agoIf your job is your only place of social interaction (or even your primary place of social interaction), you have other problems.
- beardyw 3y agoI am not sure if you meant to be unkind, but people interact and socialise in different ways, and each has to find a way which they find appropriate. I think "other problems" suggests there is a norm (perhaps yours) which everyone should aspire to.
