These are not migrants. It's not foreigners with a passport and a Visa that are allowed to enter the country. This is not people presenting themselves at the border requesting asylum in an orderly and peaceable way. It's ridiculous that the news and others keep calling them migrants yet in the same story describe it as a riot rushing the fences and rushing the borders overpowering those that are there to protect the border.
If Congress wants to allow more migrants into this country they have the power to change the laws and issue more visas and change under what conditions visas can be issued. They can even offer visa on arrivals like many countries do. If Congress does not want to allow a more immigrants they have the power to enact policies to discourage this kind of behavior and encourage Mexico to prevent it.
I feel bad for these people because they are political pawns of the Mexican government as much as the United States government. Eventually the pawns will get sacrificed and that will be a truly sad day because the Mexican government failed in their most basic job to protect their people and the United States Congress failed to take any meaningful action to prevent this from happening.
Anyone who thinks Mexico is not completely culpable in this seems to miss out on one basic thing. There's a reason these people can riot at the border and force their way across and not get shot because they understand this is the United States of America. If those same people who were so upset and disenfranchised with their country protested at their capital in the same way to get their government to reform and to get their country to reform to be a place they could make a good life in they would all be shot and not even make the news. That's how you know this is political gamesmanship.
