In Australia, we have a system for figures under $30,000 which is practically instant. I can send money online from my bank to almost any other Australian bank account number by direct credit. Figures larger than $30,000 usually have to wait till the night-time batch-processing. For that reason, the most recent Australian cheque I wrote was about 10 years ago. Most people use their phones for online banking here. I prefer a nice big 4K TV screen as a monitor which can give me lots of information at a glance. The principle is the same though.
