It is good that America is taking a hard look at its technology companies. They are stifling innovation by technical and legal means in a way that would have killed early Silicon Valley if it had existed at the time. The equivalent of IBM PC clones (cloned iPhones) are technically impossible today because of increased platform security. You can't even clone components of an iPhone because every component has a secure enclave and remote attestation. Essentially adversarial compatibility is dead today without a new legal framework guaranteeing it.
