- 4gotunameagain 3y agoYou are right, my bad. I mixed it up because of the UK bases present in Cyprus and the Turkish aggression towards Greece. Why 'occupation' and not occupation ?
- whimsicalism 3y agoI am generally not sympathetic to Turkey but I think the Cyprus issue is complicated and the former military junta, now Cyprus Republic, has given very few reasons for Turkish Cypriots to trust that they will be safe under its regime. I also think that Western international institutions are systemically biased in favor of Greece and other more western nations, which is pretty obvious by the disparate response to Greek invasion of Cyprus vs Turkish.
