Just did some searching.
According to stats Canada, in 2022 there were 334,081 total deaths (https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/t1/tbl1/en/tv.action?pid=1310039401 https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/t1/tbl1/en/tv.action?pid=131003...). There were 13,241 MAID deaths reported in Canada in 2022, according to Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euthanasia_in_Canada https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euthanasia_in_Canada). So that's 3.96 % in 2022. So I guess the claim of 5 % is actually possible.
