Nvidia Wants to Replace Nurses with AI for $9 an Hour

- phs318u 3y agoMy crystal ball tells me this will neither usher in an end to scarcity nor will it reduce the cost of healthcare. EDIT: to say nothing of it’s effectiveness re: outcomes.
- jkic47 3y agoWhy target a regulated industry like nursing, I wonder? Wouldn't it be easier to use AI in, say, a drive through window at a fast-food joint? No liability could be a big upside, and the universe of conversations at the drive through would be much smaller. IIRC, some of the more liberal states pay > $15/hr. to take fast-food orders, and this solution could be super valuable to a fast-food business with smaller margins than health-care.
- onel 3y agoGood point. I think they will not replace mission critical interactions but the mundane ones? In regards to why not replace drive-through workers: that is way more competitive and > In 2022, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there were 3.07 million registered nurses in the United States.
- orionblastar 3y agoAI has no compassion or empathy. AI won't be able to care for the elderly in nursing homes. Nurses make split-second decisions on how to treat patients. It has to be made with empathy and compassion.
