AI-generated images got through peer review [video]
- porompompero 3y agoPeer review is done under lack of sufficient time available. This is not mentioned often enough.
- a_bonobo 3y agoWorry not! People also use ChatGPT for peer review now. https://arxiv.org/abs/2403.07183 https://arxiv.org/abs/2403.07183 The entire scientific publication process is garbage. I say that as someone on ~140 papers who has quit academia: we focus on writing papers that nobody reads to tick boxes for career progression. The only one who benefits is the for-profit publishers who drown in taxpayer money. Why not automate the entire process?
- porompompero 3y agoInteresting point, but running towards the precipice might be just one of the solutions. To me, also an academic and considering to leave after an h index of 14 obtained in just a decade, the problem is the noise that all those shitty papers generate. Perhaps we should use AI to classify them ad noise vs valuable contribution?
