Is perplexity AI the next WeWork/threanos?
- sdrd 3y ago- trying to raise at $1B, wrap google search in production and resell foundation model APIs as core business while "taking on" google everyday in PR and massive social media shillings, and claiming to have "large index" in technical blog. -> Threanos - low user retention rate (high stickiness from certain user group like students) and growth (in volume) is highly correlated with PRs. Core business unit economics does not work and likely never going to work. -> Wework - CEO character is highly questionable. badmouthing google everyday (while his product scrapes google data for every single user request..), pick fights with people on twitter for attentions, lie to employees (comments from Glassdoor), censoring negative feedback on reddit, massive shillings like crypto ICO, suspecting academic fraud on paper (Blind).. wow, how could it be even possible?
- sidcool 3y agoThe CEO is mostly tweeting about how great his company is. Trashes Google. Gave me Trevor Milton vibes. The product is good though.
