See You on Zoom–Or Not
- gnicholas 3y agoSeems confusing — how would you know all the things that your avatar said in your absence? My guess is this would lead to a proliferation of meeting invites: "hey can you have your avatar sit in on this marginally-relevant meeting?" Then instead of spending all your time in 8 meetings a day, you instead spend all your time reviewing what was said (including by you) at the 20 meetings your avatar attended.
- Juliate 3y agoI don't get it. If at some point, an employer only needs your avatar (AI-powered or not), one does not need you at all: automation took the position already. If _you_ need/use a ("clever") avatar of yourself to deduplicate your "performance" (because it's actually not yet a performance at this point) in more meetings, you will be outspent by your avatars engagements, whatever they are. If the point is to get sort of real time consultations/conversations about each other participants knowledge/skills/etc., through their avatars instead of their real selves, the exchange will have only happened between programs, not between people, so... who would decide what, act on what, and report on what then? with what consequences?
