- verdverm 3y agoIs is satire? If they have a trademark, they likely have a potential claim Both trademarks can be found: https://tmsearch.uspto.gov/search/search-results https://tmsearch.uspto.gov/search/search-results They were filed within a few days of each other, both pending https://tsdr.uspto.gov/#caseNumber=98273661&caseSearchType=US_APPLICATION&caseType=DEFAULT&searchType=statusSearch https://tsdr.uspto.gov/#caseNumber=98273661&caseSearchType=U... https://tsdr.uspto.gov/#caseNumber=98259466&caseSearchType=US_APPLICATION&caseType=DEFAULT&searchType=statusSearch https://tsdr.uspto.gov/#caseNumber=98259466&caseSearchType=U... However, if you look at the other patents for each GROQ has many patents with no likely confusions on their WordMark, they have a fully registered trademark GROK on the other hand has a potential conflict with another software company: https://tsdr.uspto.gov/#caseNumber=90855864&caseSearchType=US_APPLICATION&caseType=DEFAULT&searchType=statusSearch https://tsdr.uspto.gov/#caseNumber=90855864&caseSearchType=U...
- minimaxir 3y agoSatire is both a format and a tone. Irrespective of whether they have a legitmate case, if Grok wanted to sue X.ai for trademark infringement, they wouldn't write a blog post that's intended to be funny, they'd just send a lawyer-vetted C&D.
- verdverm 3y agoWe don't know they didn't send a letter. They may not have to send a letter to Grok, they would more likely contest the USPTO application which is still PENDING I'm not convinced it's satire, though it is unprofessional language. I read it more as trying to get under Elon's skin, to elicit a reaction using similar tone to what Elon uses
