I believe it’s often not so much that old technology is bad or shouldn’t be maintained, but rather that in some circumstances, supporting old tech can be disproportionately burdensome considering the percentage of users served and can prove to be obstructive to sometimes much-needed efforts to refactor and modernize. None of that seems to apply in this situation so there’s no reason not to.
