I do understand for people relying on it but lets also remember just how much effort it takes to support the very very weird HTML (basically MS Word) that Outlook requires.
- croes 3y agoDon't forget the reason for the weird HTML: They did not want to or could not secure Outlook with modern HTML, which is why they switched to the old HTML version of Word.
- RedShift1 3y agoTo me it seems ridiculous to throw away an entire program which has so much more going on than this one "weird HTML renderer". Rewrite entire program for just this one thing?? Just replace the HTML renderer in Outlook then.
- ZiiS 3y agoFrom MS's POV they have just replaced the HTML renderer in Outlook. They just took the opportunity to drop some hard to maintain legacy code (COM compatibility) and "improve" the UX in ways people predictably hate.
