All these shitheel sites do the same thing. BusinessInsider often doesn't even do the work of lightly rewriting paragraphs, they just rip content off wholesale. It's a dirty game, but I dunno if much can be done to stop it.
The CEO's reaction is a disaster unto itself. Shameful.
- joering2 14y agowell, perhaps making it a public rant like in this example will make them think twice before next copy/past.
- jinfiesto 14y agoI kind of disagree on this point. Business Insider has always asked for my permission before syndicating my content.

- astrodust 14y agoThere's a new breed of CEOs who use 'ur' in public correspondence. If that isn't a red flag, I don't know what is.
- davidw 14y ago> There's a new breed of CEOs who use 'ur' in public correspondence. Either that, or a very, very old breed.
- csomar 14y agoI'm not bothered much by "ur" (since it's Twitter, and you have only 140 characters) than by his tone.
- zedadex 14y agoHe was able to get around the 140-char limit fine by bombarding OP with replies.
- csomar 14y agoI thought he had an active conversation with the OP.
- tlrobinson 14y agoI refuse to shorten words to "SMS speak", even on Twitter. I can't stand when supposedly intelligent adults do it.
- Fuzzwah 14y agoI used to be like you, then I realised that the English language has been ever evolving. Being prejudiced against efficiency has rarely turned out well.
- Prophasi 14y agoEh, I still agree with the prejudiced guy.
- astrodust 14y agoThere's creative liberty (verbification), playful mangling (ohai) and then there's outright abuse (ur). What kind of tome are you writing that you need to shave two letters off of something while completely destroying any sense of credibility you might have? I18N is excusable, it's a gigantic word. "Your" is not a long word.
- laconian 14y agoWe could block them from HN...
- Tsagadai 14y agoThis is the sad path that modern journalism seems destined to take. Old players go out of business or adjust their content towards articles for broader audiences (read: crass, controversial, gossip and conspiracies). Most online news consists of barely rewritten press releases. No research, no editing, no moral compass. Unfortunately, it is also what people want and it sells ad revenue. The old boss was a sleazebag in a suit who would hit on the secretary but he ran a newsroom. The new boss is a petulant child who doesn't give a fuck about anyone else or know any better. I wonder if in 10 years we will be able to read about war from a source that isn't twitter, the governments involved, NGOs or a weapons company press release?
