I use it for high-performance scientific code. Code that needs to run fast, be written fast, and frequently extended and modified, with a mix of high and low level computing. This could be achieved by a mix of Python and Rust, but it's just too annoying to write scripts in two languages, where one is compiled and the other has terrible package management. Much easier to write it in Julia and have it be fast out of the box
