I'm not sure on the point your making (phallic or Chinese sounding), but I hadn't realised that DONG energy was originally Dansk Olie og Naturgas A/S (DONG), meaning Danish Oil and Natural Gas.
- ggm 3y agoIt's both. Anti CCP and the phallic probably combined to make it a harder sell to the US market.
- porkbeer 3y agoor lean into it with Big Dong Energy marketing.
- exodust 3y agoThey sold off their oil and gas business in 2017 for a billion dollars before the name change [wikipedia]. Obviously the 'ONG' in their name no longer represented their activities. The idea their former name would be offensive to Americans is highly unlikely!
